Bathymetric Data Visualization
A collection of augmented reality (AR) interface prototypes developed to explore interactive 3D visualization of seafloor data.
THE PROJECT
Out of sight, out of mind. These AR prototypes explore different methods of visualizing (e.g. tabletop and recessed) and interacting with (e.g. tangible AR and virtual buttons) seafloor data. While many are familiar with the Earth’s topographic features, the features of the seafloor are less well known. Here, AR brings 2D maps to life, thereby allowing the user to perceive the complexity and scale of select seafloor features.
